Open APK file on Windows

APK files are not natively supported by Microsoft Windows OS. APK format is a native Android OS disk image format which is used to distribute installation packages within Android OS. In order to open APK file on Windows you will need a special software which has support for this format.

There are two applications which have the most comprehensive support for APK file format. They are BlueStack and Remix OS Player. BlueStacks could be downloaded from https://www.bluestacks.com/ while Remix OS player for Windows is available from https://sourceforge.net/projects/remix-os-player/.

Open APK with BlueStacks

BlueStacks emulates functionality of Android device on Microsoft Windows operating system. That means that when you open it you can open Anroid application from the APK file in the same way you would do it on your Android device.

In order to open your APK file navigate to it using BlueStacks file navigation interface and click on the file name.

This will open APK file contents and launch the application inside it.

The application will start in exactly the same way it would start on your Android device with all features of the application available.

You can change settings and preferences of the Android emulation engine and Android application from the APK file by choosing File->Preferences... from the main menu of BlueStacks.

Open APK with Remix OS Player

Remix OS Player is a free Android OS emulation software available for download from https://sourceforge.net/projects/remix-os-player/.

Remix OS Player was developed as part of Remix operating system by Jide Technology. With Remix OS Player you can open APK file you have or you can access various Android applications using Google Play Store. Remix OS has a key mapping tool to help play touchscreen games with keyboard and mouse.

Remix OS Player is available for Windows OS only. Installation is very simple. You just need to download an EXE file and run it to start Remix OS Player.
